In addition to the newest 1:50 scale models, Corgi also has it's Showcase series (re-branded Corgi Collection/Corgi Wheelz in 2006). These are small scale "themed" sets consisting of four diecast models (a mix of airplanes, tanks, and other ground vehicles). two diecast models with figures, and single vehicles. Several these models are the same as those released in the Newest Corgi Classics range of 1:50 models. Corgi Showcase scales are variable, but are around 1:72 (1:76?) for the tanks. Corgi Showcase Collections comes in 3 formats: Four-packs (four vehicles per package), Twin packs (usually with figures) and Singles. The Single and four pack generally have plastic display 'plinths' with descriptive cards. The twin-packs do not.
The first releases were based around the Vietnam, Korea, and The Battle of Britain. In Late 2002/2003, they released four more sets, all of WWII theme: El Alamein, Guadal Canal, Stalingrad, Overlord, and Fighter Scramble (all planes). In Spring of 2003 Corgi issued a new set, "The History of Tank Warfare", which features a WWI Mark IV Tank Male, Panzer IV, M4 Sherman and M1 Abrams. See the table below for more information. Although many tanks appear to be repeated in other sets, the paint scheme is usually different, reflecting the theater of battle.
For Spring of 2004, Corgi has released the Showcase D-Day 60th Anniversary Collection. Corgi also released the El Alamein twin-packs.
Prices range from $17.99 to $24.99.
As noted above, Corgi has been marketing the individual vehicles from some of these sets. These come individually boxed with the "Fighting Machine" label. These are not to be confused with the 1:50 scale 'fighting machine' models release in the late 1990's. Corgi has also released (2003, 2004) two tank sets which also include two small painted figures.
Singles can be found from $4.99 (KB toys clearance) to $9.99 (eBay auction). Twin-packs from about $6.99 to $15. Four-packs from $9.99 (clearance) to $22+.
Silver Squad
In 2004, Corgi Started releasing selected "Silver Squad" vehicles. Finished in silver, these are limited edition items which are packed randomly. Designed to be more collectible, they are quite similar to Johnny Lightning "white Lightning" releases. 2004 Silver Squad vehicles are the M-8 Greyhound and the M1 Abrams.

2006 Releases- Corgi Collection/Wheelz

Rebranded - Corgi Collection/Corgi Wheelz in 2006
Packaging - Talk about Confusing! Although the press from Corgi indicates that Corgi Wheelz will be civilian vehicles and Corgi Collection will be Military, you can find them in BOTH packages, and both with the "Fighting Machines" tag. Below I have comparison pictures.
Neither of the new packages come with a plinth. Instead the models are wedged into a plastic enclosure. The Corgi Wheelz box still has the nice card with information about the vehicle. The Corgi Collection box has a thin flimsy picture of the model, with no information.
Update: As time has past, things have started to sort out. At first the military vehicles started to show up under the Wheelz logo, but this rapidly changed to Corgi Collection logo. Now the BOXED versions are consistently coming out under the Corgi Collection logo. Since then, the Wheelz logo has appeared on hanging blister packs (as opposed to boxes)...see "Night Force" below.
The Corgi Collection vehicles come with a sticker of the vehicle. The sticker is designed to go with a collectors poster. The poster, issued by Corgi UK, features spaces with white silhouettes of various models in the range, and urges the collector to "leave no space unfilled"

Corgi Showcase might be coming out with several
new combinations of vehicles, and this time the sets will also
come with figures. Called "Battlescenes of WWII" these
were reported in late 2003 as forthcoming by Corgi, but have yet
to materialize.

Corgi Tactical Strike: 1/64 Modern Armor
Corgi/History Channel WWII series
Corgi currently offers four 'level's of diecast at four different 'pricing points'
Corgi Collection/Corgi Wheelz - formerly Showcase Collection
Corgi's entry-level price point range. Scale is ROUGHLY 1/87 or 1/72. Three series are currently made: Emergency, Fighting Machines and 100 Years of Flight collections. Models come in themed 4 packs, 2 packs (with figures) and single vehicles. Prices range from $4.00 - $6.00. A great value!
Tactical Strike
New for 2004, this collection of models will become a second entry-level price point range and should also prove to popular for collectors both young and old. Each Tactical Strike model is produced in 1:64 scale and is a reproduction of today's American military power. Each diecast model has a battle-hardened look - weathered and war weary, with mud, armaments and equipment on each vehicle. Also available are U.S. infantry sets for both the Army and Marines made of highly detailed, fully-painted plastic. Pricing: $9.95 to $14.95
The History Channel
Corgi and The History Channel gotten together to create a new mid-price point range. Production runs are not limited (re: mass produced). Detailing will not be as elaborate as on previous models or as extensive as the detailing in the new Premiere Collections. The look to be quite nice, however! Pricing: $25
Premier Collections
In 2004, Corgi redefined its top-level price range. Models will be produced in very limited production runs offered in special packaging in order to enhance the value. Additional features and accessories will be released for various models. Many of the WWII series releases will be in the Premiere Collection. Pricing: $39.95 and up.
