Thanks George!
In 1901 a man named Frank Hornby patented a
mechanical toy, thus Meccano ("Mechanics made easy")
was born. In 1931 Meccano LTD started the production of model
railroad accessories. In 1934, under the name Dinky Toys, they
began manufacture of cars, passenger ships and aero planes. Many
of the tanks and military vehicles were manufactured by Dinky in
the 1960's. At the same time, many models were being manufactured in France.
In 1979 the Dinky Liverpool plant closed, although
the Meccano name has been carried on by Meccano, SA, of France.
Many thanks to Jacques D. who helped me with corrections to
the models numbers and some of the names - including the fact that the Leopard
baseplate was reused for another model!

In addition to completed models, Dinky also made kits. These kits ready for assembly, but were unpainted.
