Sorry for the late Update. For some of you, this is will be old
news.....
Admiral - The big news - Admiral is switching to plastic! I for one think this is a shame, but understandable. It is difficult to manufacture a quality product (especially in limited numbers as they intend), and metal manufacturing makes it even harder. By switching to plastic, however, they join the rest of the pack. Still I look forward to their new releases and continued success. They have announced that they will be adding a Pak 40, a Crusader, and a Panzer IIIM to their lineup. HobbyMaster - For 2007 they will add a Centaur, a Cromwell, a KV1 and a KV1 E1. Easy Model - According to a snippet of Easy Model catalog I have seen, they will be releasing a Stug III Ausf F, Stug III Ausf G, Stug IV, Jagdpanzer IV, KV-1 (captured by Germans), and a KV-2 754(r) (captured by Germans). According to The Motor Pool (www.themotorpool.net) Altaya (IXO) will not be releasing it's 1/72 scale tanks in the USA this year. They also report these releases from Minichamps for 2007: Leopard 2A4 in Greek Liver, a 1942 GMC 2 1/2 ton Communications truck, and a 1942 GMC tanker truck. New Millenium 1/144 tanks at Wal Mart: Repaints and new releases- Imagine my surprise looking at some of these "old releases" and finding they were repaints! After looking at the message boards I found the repaints have been out a while! This one got right by me. They have also released 6 new versions: M7 Priest, Panzer IV, Brumbar, Jagdtiger, Jagdpanther, and a Stug IV! Solido - Lenours at MSV sent me this update. It seems that the Verem branding may be no more! Only Solido products are being promoted. Also the last Fench factory closed it's doors, and all manufacturing has moved to China. The 2007 lineup is below:

World Tank Museum
http://www.world-tank-museum.com/ now has a US
distributor/partner. They are marketing single and multi packs of
the WTM models a prices competitive with the Dragon Can.do series
models. The Single and "Platoon" packs themed around the
Battle of the Bulge, and featurw the King
Tiger, Jagdpanzer, Panther, and Sherman tanks The Classic Armor series from New Millennium Toys at Wal Mart has also released the 1:43 scale military diecast in the ".VS series twin packs". I have seen a twin pack with a two Hummvees, one with a a rocket launcher, an the other configured as a cargo truck. The logos on the box are EXACTLY the same as the 21st Century 1:32 .VS series, further solidifying the link that New Millennium Toys is a offshoot of 21st Century providing toys in an arrangement with Wal Mart. |

21st Century- has introduced its ".VS Iron Horses"
series, featuring two 1/32 scale vehicles in one package. So far I
have seen: Minichamps Matchbox has release a new
series under the name Battlekings name. Unfortunately, these are NOT
re-releases of the 1970's Battlekings series, but re-packaged modern
vintage vehicles. So far I have seen: Forces of Valor will be releasing a new Extreme Metal 1/16 tank - a Tiger I patterned after one of Michael Wittman's Tiger's |

Admiral Toys: Admiral's first
release, the Panzer III Ausf L, in Afrika Corps livery, is now out.
The second release, a Panzer III H in German gray is due in soon.
Although the first release is nice, there are a few issues which
will hopefully be fixed in future releases: mine has a missing
headlamp, obvious sanding marks where the bottom and top hull come
together, and some color mismatch between the plastic detail parts
and the metal parts. Overall, though, a good start. I will
definitely purchase the next in the series! Hobby Master: The first versions in 1:56 scale (3 tigers and 2 Abrams) are out. I have the gray Tiger and an Abrams....and the quality is superb! Crisp details and excellent weathering. Hobby Master will be switching from 1:56 to 1:48 scale. According to William Liu at Hobby Master: "Due to popular demand, we will focus on developing 1/48 scale in the the future. The next one will be a King Tiger releasing in early August." Dragon Armor: As most of you probably know, Dragon is FINALLY releasing some allied armor, a M4A3 Sherman tank in the livery of the 761st tank battalion, the "Black Panthers". This is an interesting selection, as Corgi has released this model in both 1:50 scale and small scale (approx 1:87). It will be interesting to compare these versions! |

A little late with this one.... :-)
Hobby Master Limited has announced a new series of 1:56 diecast
tanks. Called the Ground Power series, the first two releases are a
Tiger and an Abrams tank, both in various color schemes. Pictures
show the tanks to be heavily weathered. I have the a Tiger and
Abrams on order....more when they get in.....

Corgi has announced releases for the
second half of 2006 WWII - Skirmish: This appears to be the "next generation" of diorama-type offerings from Corgi. These new offerings will pair a WWII vehicle with 3 to 6 figures. The packaging will "compliment the models with battle scenes and diorama-style backdrops to make the models an attractive piece whether in or out of the box" (from the Corgi Catalog).

Playing "catch-up", my apologies if
some of this news is a bit old: Dragon Can.do releases: Dragon Abrams/Bradley twinpacks, 6 in total:
Jagdpanzer/Hetzer Series:
Finally, many of the Dragon releases first get released as trading miniatures under the Doyusha name. The upcoming release is a Stug IV, so we might expect to see a Stug release soon. Coming up from Dragon Armor - a Stug IV with side skirts and a Jagdpanzer IV L/70 . Also, Dragon Models is now offering a 1/72 Sherman, so the odds are very good that we will soon see a Sherman in the Dragon Armor lineup! According to Onsite Diecast, the Dragon 1/35 Tiger may get hard to find as DragonChina has no current plans to ship any more. Corgi has an interesting 50th anniversary site with a nice historical perspective of Corgi toys: http://www.corgi50.com/ and an interesting new site http://www.corgi.biz/. This last site has several Corgi catalogs in .pdf format The Minichamps site now has a delivery date of September 2006 for the new Centurion tank and has announced another new release: a T72A/M1 Russian tank Circa 1978. Delivery in December. Schuco is "releasing" a line of military vehicles. This is a actually a re-release of the DeAgostini vehiclesof 2003. About half the models are were originally created by Criel Models for DeAgostini, the other half were re-releases of the Vitesse Victoria series re-released by DeAgostini. I gues since Sun Star purchased the Vitesse line, this make some of them re-re-re-releases. :-)

12/30/2004 I found out the hard way (by buying them) that the Schuco "diecast" tanks are actually plastic. They are re-issues of the plastic Boley 1:87 tanks...buyer beware! 12/23/2004 Lenours at Militaire Solido Verem wrote me with an update on the 2005 lineup: "The French marks Solido and Verem envisage for
2005 of many new military models. Their publications will
be distributed over several months of the year. The list
includes mainly : Thanks to Lenours from Militaire Solido Verem! 12/21/2004 Several Force of Valor repaints and some
new items have appeared at Target and Toys-R-Us. These
are "action series" models, but in several
instances they sport some very nice paint jobs (for
example: the Sherman and the Matilda). Of these, AAVVP1A1
had not been pre-advertised by Unimax. Three other models

Hobby Link Japan writes: " This series is the infra-red RC version of the famous "World Tank Museum", the 1/144 scale tank collection from Kaiyodo. Takara built in the rechargable battery and motor unit. Tank can be driven about five minutes in one charge (two minute charge). The controller/charger is made to resemble a German stick grenad(e);, each item of the series contains a different colour of controller. Tank has limited movement capability; it runs straight forward, and reverses only to the right. This is more than sufficient for a table-top runner! Amazingly, it runs on its own both rubber tracks, not by small wheels hidden beneath the body. The tanks have the improved painting and insignia representing specific vehicles seen on the WWII battlefields. Series #4 is the Jagdtiger 301 belonging to the famous "Army 512nd. Heavy Tank Battalion" which joined the attack on Remagen bridgehead in March 1945. Two UM-4/AAA/R-03 batteries are required for the charger." 8/9/2003 The Boley
